Architecture makes my hometown special. From Beaux Arts to Carpenter Gothic construction, as I was researching the different steeples across the city, I was surprised by the many styles and historic moments represented in our city. Some steeples are original, some rebuilt and some abandoned. I filled each drawing with a colorful pattern that I designed based on the building’s historic or architectural essence, hoping to brighten and enliven the details or perhaps bring attention to a building often forgotten. Whatever one’s feelings are on the bible belt, I always think that the overhead steeples point to the history of change, communities and design.
